John Shivas, Director, Lake Bryndwr Developments
Very satisfied! No problems at all. In fact I'm asking Blakely's to do another job for us, so I'm obviously very happy. It ran smoothly. They did everything they said they were going to do - very professional.
David Hobbs, Director, Broadfield Estates
The finishing has been immaculate. We hope that they will do our next project.
Glen Stapley, Director, Rippingale Holdings Ltd
Blakely Construction were engaged to complete earthworks, roading and construction requirements for the Glenlea subdivision in Hanmer Springs. The subdivision is a 36 lot lifestyle subdivision. We are pleased with the work completed by Woody and his team. They have a good understanding of our requirements and have forward planned and communicated with our consultants to produce what we believe is a fine subdivision development. Woody is well respected by all the people around him, particularly his staff. I believe he has earnt that respect due to his ability to manage projects and people. We would have no hesitation in recommending Blakely Construction and will put Blakelys at the top of our list when we start our next project.
Michael Martin, Engineer, Fox & Associates
We've found Blakely Construction a pleasure to work with. They are very flexible and responsive, and are able to grasp the project requirements quickly. They strive to achieve the project objectives in the most commonsense and practical way. Our involvement with them started with smaller projects, but we've found them equally capable on larger, more complex work. We have no hesitation in recommending them for civil construction work.
Carl Fox, Engineer, Fox & Associates
Fox & Associates would like to express our appreciation for the manner in which you and your staff undertook the subdivisional construction works associated with The Glen Development and the consistently high level of performance with which your company carries out site works in general. The development land at Wilkinsons Road contained many challenges including variable ground conditions, high water table and the proximity of an environmental asset in the form of Smacks Stream. Not only did you have to contend with the difficult ground conditions but you had to deal with the site management impositions imposed by an agreement made with the neighbours which we feel you handled commendably. As always your contribution in resolving physical challenges that were raised in implementing an engineering design with that of the physical limitations were appreciated. Your contribution has had a direct and positive effect on the outcome of the development both in functionality but also appearance. We were particularly impressed with your solution for the sewer crossing of Smacks Stream given its environmental assets status. Environment Canterbury's comments should be pleasing given that they saw your solution as being a possible best practice solution for future similar situations. In addition to this you handled the issue of dewatering in a very practical, efficient and sensitive manner. We are not aware of any non compliance issues despite the much greater than expected ground water flows. Lastly we value the way in which you handled the neighbours who had very strict requirements regarding when and how the works were undertaken. This had the potential for conflict but was avoided by the good level of communication and consideration granted to the neighbours by you and your staff. We take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and look forward to working with you on future projects.
Murray England, Engineer, Selwyn District Council
Dear Ivan, please accept this letter as confirmation that myself and Selwyn District Council are happy with the job at Leeston Wetlands. Blakely Construction performed as per the contract construction and the job was completed on time before the wet season. At no time were the resource consents breached nor the neighbours disturbed. The finish at the site was of a high standard and Blakely Construction performed above our expectations.
Brendan Prendergast, Managing Director, MOVE Logistics
On Sept 5th, the day after the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that struck Christchurch, I was introduced to Edward (Woody) Blakely of Blakely Construction. Woody was called upon to manage the salvage operation at our two third party warehouses in Hornby, both of which had suffered considerable stock and racking losses as a result of the earthquake. The situation called for calm heads, clear thinking and an immediate response - all of which Blakely's delivered on. They had men and equipment at our sites within hours and were able to call upon support operators at very short notice, to ensure that enough resource was available to get the job done. Given that we were warehousing products for a number of clients, including some of New Zealand's larger corporations, it was critical for their ongoing business operation as well as our own revenue stream that we salvaged these products as cleanly and as quickly as we could. Blakely's did this with professionalism and expert precision, and without at any stage compromising their well-developed safety operating plan. We and our clients are grateful for the efforts of Woody and his team, and congratulate them on a job well done.
